MARRON THOMAS

Marron Thomas grew up in the inner city of Memphis.  After witnessing members of his family spend time incarcerated, he made a commitment not to travel down the same path, but created a path of his own. This path, filled with ups and downs challenged who he was as a person, but he would prevail. Despite trials and tribulations, he graduated college. Three days before graduation he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
A year and a half later, Marron was called to return to the inner city, this time to serve in ministry to the youth.   In September 1997, Marron accepted a position at Youth Visions as a Youth Outreach Specialist.  Today, Marron serves as the Executive Director and is also an adjunct instructor for Crichton College.   Marron holds a Bachelors of Science in Education from Lane College and a Masters in Divinity from Mid America Baptist Theological Seminary.  He enjoys coaching (and playing) football, reading anything by John Maxwell and spending time with his wife, Tori and daughter, Madison.    He is an example of how God changes lives.

CHRISTIE BORNER

In 1995, Christie responded to the call of God and left secular employment to serve as director of an outreach youth organization.  Five years later, she formed Grace Kids,  an elementary outreach organization for elementary aged youth in the Frayser community.   As both organizations continued to grow in it's capacity and population served, Grace Kids and Youth Visions, Inc. merged their outreach efforts.   Christie's God-given organization and leaderships skills are definitely being utilized in her current position as Administrative Director.  Christie loves to read, shop and spend time with her family.  She and her husband Marvin, are the proud parents of one son,  Marvin, Jr.

LEONARD RICHARDSON

As a product of  the North Memphis (Frayser/Raleigh) area, and graduate of Trezevant High,  Leonard's return to "spread the good news of Jesus Christ" is a great testament to God's guidance and faithfulness.   On his way up the corporate ladder at Fed Ex,  Leonard accepted the role as volunteer youth coordinator at  Thessalonians Baptist Church.   He didn't know it then, but his acceptance of that position, changed his life forever.  He soon walked away from the corporate world and began full time ministry.  He joined with Youth Visions, Inc. in 2004 and currently serves as Outreach Director, where he works with both middle and high school students.  He is an alumnus of the Urban Youth Initiative and Downline Ministries.   In his spare time, he loves to attend Memphis Grizzlies basketball games, play baseball,  golf and  eat good food.

DERRICK BOGARD

dbogard@youthvisionsinc.org

Hip-hop has become synonymous with violence, female exploitation, and the frustration of urban youth. Fortunately, thereare those in the music industry that are challenging this stigma by fusing captivating beats with bible based lyrics relevant totoday’s hip-hop generation. Derrick “DJ Bo” Bogard excitedly became a part of that movement in 1994, and hastraveled the nation as an anointed DJ, singer, and producer of such captivating, bible-based music.

Derrick is an individual whose gift has definitely made room for him;  In 2008,  he became apart of the Youth Visions, Inc. family and serves as the Middle School Coordinator.    Lovingly known by the youth (and everyone else)  as  "DJ Bo",  Derrick is definitely making his mark for Christ in the Frayser community.  His recorded and produced songs and beats can be heard not only at Youth Visions, Inc on Tuesday nights for Club, but at local middle and high school football games.   “People often say: ‘If I knew then, what I know now, I would be better.  Well Jesus Christ,  that I now know made me better, so it is a MUST that I share His message of love and hope with young people" says Derrick.  “It is my desire that every young person understand and experience their fullest potential.   He is married to his best friend Kharlen, and enjoys listening to music (even country), playing golf and fishing.

TORI THOMAS

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said “Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'” Tori has been answering that question through her various service capacities, both professionally and socially. Born and raised in the North Memphis, (Hyde Park) area, Tori has always had a heart for serving others. At the age of 19, she revived a deserted Girl Scouts troop for the young girls within her North Memphis community and from there the Lord expanded her opportunities for reach. With over 15 years of community and outreach development experience under her belt, what excites Tori the most is seeing young people excel and reach their fullest potential capacity. Her passion draws and demands excellence. That, coupled with her persistent advocacy for the underserved and “forgotten” is what lead her back to Youth Visions, as the Director of Education. As Director of Education, she is responsible for the development and management of all Youth Visions educational programming and initiatives. Tori is a graduate of Kingsbury High School and the University of Memphis. She is married to her college sweetheart Marron, and they have one daughter, Madison Atrice. She loves CUPCAKES all things cute and crafty!!!
